Post subject: Bell-matic 4006 7020 bracelet/strap? Need advice! |
|
|
| I've just bought my first Bell-matic 27 jewell dating from the late sixties. Really pleased, it's in A1 condition except for the bracelet. I am told that the originals are discontinued and due to their light construction didn't last anyway the only problem with non-original replacemeents is that they don't match the radiused watch case and leave a gap. The watch is so nice I would really like to find a suitable alternative, does anyone have any advice they could offer? |

A photo of the current bracelet would be useful.

| The current bracelet is one i have had fitted, it isn't shaped and looks quite poor so a picture isn't really relevant. I was simply wondering where I could find a suitable st/st bracelet or good quality radiused leather strap to suit a 4006 7020. I would imagine mine is a common problem as the straps were apparently quite poor quality and didn't last.[img][/img] |

what is your wrist circumference?
The 19mm lug width of the -702x case can be an issue, but many of us have successfully fitted handsome 20mm straps with just a bit of judicious trimming.

Hi John,
My wrist circumference is approximately 71/2". I've just taken a pic of the watch but can't find how to upload it, can you advise. The brown leather strap looks very nice, is there still a sizeable gap between the case and strap when it's being worn? |

If you upload the photo to someplace like Photobucket or Webshots (free) then you can use IMG code to display it here (icons above and "Insert photo?" instructions above that when you edit a post).
If you use an 18mm strap, you will have a gap. With 20mm, there is no gap but, depending upon the stiffness of the leather, you have to do a little trimming. Some stores and online sources even carry a limited supply of 19mm straps and bracelets.
